Job Title: VAT Analyst

Experience Required: 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in Tax, Legal, Accounting, or related fields, supported by a relevant university degree.

Job Type: Contract

Contract Duration: Initial term of 3 to 6 months, with a strong possibility of extension up to 18 months or beyond, depending on project needs.

Workplace Type:

• Initially hybrid – with travel to the office in Porto required once or twice a week for the first few months
• Thereafter, attendance will be reduced to once or twice a month
• The remainder of the role will be fully remote

Languages Required: English (fluent in a professional business setting)

Visa/Work Authorization: Candidates must hold a valid work permit or visa to work in Europe or the UK

Work Location: Porto, Portugal

• Candidates must currently reside within Europe
• Willingness to travel at personal expense to Porto once or twice a week during the initial phase is required
• After the initial months, travel will reduce to once or twice a month
• Unfortunately, candidates currently residing outside Europe or the UK cannot be considered

We are looking for a skilled VAT & Compliance Analyst for a contract role with a global organization. This position offers the flexibility and focuses on European VAT compliance, reconciliations, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze potential issues and assess/implement effective solutions
• Manage and define process improvements to enhance system efficiency
• Conduct VAT reconciliations and ensure compliance with accounting standards
• Ensure timely clearing of accounts and proper handling of open items
• Support VAT compliance efforts and supervise aspects of the team’s work
• Maintain SLAs and provide support across
  - related topics
• Coordinate with business partners and functional teams globally
• Advanced knowledge of European VAT and intrastat regulations
• Solid expertise in SAP
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially advanced Excel
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proven ability to work in
  - paced,
  - driven environments

Optional Skills

• Experience supervising or mentoring team members
• Process improvement and change management experience
• Familiarity with global compliance standards
• Knowledge of other European languages
• Understanding of financial audits or internal controls
