Test Centre Engineer – Automation & Quality Assurance (Hybrid – Banking Sector)

This role supports a major client in the banking sector, operating in a hybrid work model based in Oporto. The Test Centre (TCE) delivers
- quality testing services built on a mature and proven methodology. It plays a key role in the development, maintenance, and execution of automated test scripts, supporting core business areas such as Savings and Protection. The position also involves training colleagues and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define automation test strategies and manage test activities within projects
• Plan rollout of automated scripts, estimate budgets, timelines, and ROI
• Conduct technical feasibility assessments (POC) for automation in various applications
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to design test scenarios using Gherkin
• Lead “3 Amigos” sessions to align requirements, development, and testing
• Develop and maintain GUI test scripts using Selenium (Java), Webdriver
  IO (Java
  Script), Cucumber, Maven
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git
  Lab CI)
• Set up and manage test environments using Docker and Kubernetes
• Analyse logs, debug test failures, and continuously improve test frameworks
• Document test results and provide Go/No-Go recommendations
• Report risks and progress to project leadership

Training & Knowledge Sharing:

• Train developers and junior testers in automation practices and Gherkin syntax
• Promote continuous learning and adoption of industry best practices

Technical Skills:

• System administration: Windows, Linux/Unix, IIS, . NET, WCF, Web
  Logic, Apache, Tomcat, Java EE
• Monitoring & Scheduling: Geneos, Introscope, Dynatrace, Autosys, Dollar
  Universe
• Scripting: Python, Perl, Shell, SQL
• Familiarity with ITIL processes: change/release management, incident/problem resolution
• Databases: SQL Server, Oracle
