Description

Hertel. Robotics is developing
- generation autonomy for unmanned systems and preparing multiple
- world operations in challenging environments — including CTR-adjacent missions near Faro Airport (Portugal).

We are looking for a senior SORA / BVLOS regulatory specialist to support:

• A complete SORA application (incl. Con
  Ops, risk assessment, OSO implementation, mitigations)
• CTR operations (20–30m) for a research client (June 2026)
• Compliance guidance during development of our autonomous flight stack
• Part-time support to our engineering team (ROS2, PX4/Ardu
  Pilot autonomy)

This is an opportunity to work with a
- caliber autonomy team on a project that will be used as a reference case for future BVLOS maritime and
- domain operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and submission of a full SORA package to ANAC (Portugal)
• Draft Con
  Ops, PDRA analysis, Pre-Defined Risk Assessment mapping
• Identify SAIL level, OSO mitigations, and air/ground risk strategies
• Prepare all documentation required for
  - adjacent operations
• Liaise with regulators (ANAC, NAV) when required
• Advise engineering teams on compliance implications during development
• Provide weekly updates and clear checklists for progress tracking
• Prepare testing/playbook procedures for our June BETA client mission
• Optional: support future BVLOS and maritime SORA pathways

Requirements

• 3+ real SORA submissions (non-negotiable)
• Hands-on experience with airport or CTR operations
• Strong knowledge of SAIL determination + OSO mapping
• Familiarity with PDRA-G02 and EASA Regulation 2019/947
• Experience writing Con
  Ops for unmanned systems
• Experience with sensor-limited or
  - assisted operations is a plus
• Technical understanding of drones (PX4, Ardu
  Pilot, UAS integration) is a plus
• Ability to start part-time from December
