We are hiring a UX Designer for Infrastructure and Developer Experience to work with our engineering teams and play a vital role in improving developer experience globally.
Our design team aims to transform complex,
- source software into efficient, intuitive products that can change how complex systems are built and expand open source capabilities for enterprise IT. We seek a talented,
- minded user experience designer who shares our ambitions.
This role reports to a design manager or director within the Infrastructure and Developer Experience team.
Location: This role will be based remotely in the EMEA region.
The role entails
- Building tools that enable everyone to create their own cloud experiences (MAAS, LXD, Micro
Cloud, and Canonical k8s) - Collaborating with product managers and engineers to shape the future of developer experience
- Supporting complex products through design processes and UX heuristics
- Evolving and evangelizing design systems that promote consistency and efficiency
- Understanding the broader scope of your work and its interconnected constraints
- Supporting our working groups to enable Canonical's horizontal design efforts
What we are looking for in you
- Exceptional academic record from high school and university
- Bachelor's or equivalent in User Experience, Design, STEM, or a compelling alternative narrative
- Knowledge and passion for user experience, technology, and design
- Commitment to continuous learning and improvement
- Result-oriented with a drive to complete work and celebrate success
- Confidence in user research practices
- Engagement with the latest design research and innovation
- Ability to travel internationally twice a year for up to two weeks
UX designers should be excellent communicators, comfortable working with engineers, designers, and executives, and able to present their design positions clearly. They should be confident in tackling complex design challenges and connecting their leadership to the company's strategic vision.
